Bartlesville’s Multicultural Hub and Resource Center

For 74 years, Westside Community Center (WCC) has been a pillar of connection, culture, and opportunity in Bartlesville. Born from vision and sustained by resilience, WCC has served as a safe haven, a learning space, and a launchpad for generations.

Today, we stand as Bartlesville’s Multicultural Hub - a place where diverse voices are celebrated, heritage is honored, and futures are built.

We serve youth, adults, and seniors through programs that bridge generational gaps, promote lifelong learning, and champion equity. From after-school STEAM education and civic engagement trips to workforce development, cultural events, and senior tech workshops - our goal is simple: build a stronger Bartlesville where everyone belongs and thrives.

We are not just a center - we are a movement of neighbors becoming family, stories becoming legacy, and hope becoming action.

Youth Entrepreneurship

At Westside Community Center, we’re shaping the next generation of innovators and leaders.

NextGen Entrepreneurship is open to all ages and gives young creators real-world experience through monthly community marketplaces. Students receive anonymous judging and personalized feedback to strengthen their business ideas, along with mentorship to help them pivot, grow, and scale.

The Sitter Spot equips teens with the business side of babysitting. Participants receive CPR, first aid, and crisis management training, then gain hands-on experience through our partnership with local businesses - offering supervised childcare at WCC alongside OKWU students and trained adults.

Together, these programs help youth turn skills into opportunity, confidence into leadership, and ideas into impact.

Kids Voting Oklahoma

WCC is proud to help bring Kids Voting Oklahoma to life - a statewide initiative that empowers students to understand how government works and why their voices matter. Through hands-on civic learning, mock elections, and community engagement, students gain real-world experience in democracy and decision-making long before they reach voting age.

This initiative is truly nonpartisan and will be rooted in civic responsibility and focused on developing informed, thoughtful, and responsible citizens. We will provide balanced, fact-based civic education without a hidden agenda or political bias, allowing students to explore issues, form their own opinions, and engage respectfully across perspectives.

Our goal is to create well-informed young leaders who can think critically, participate confidently, and contribute positively to their communities. We’re currently forming the Bartlesville chapter and welcome educators, parents, and community partners to join us in shaping this important work.

Tech Savvy Seniors

From learning how to navigate smartphones and tablets, to exploring online safety and fraud prevention, to understanding the latest smart-home devices—we’re here to make technology less intimidating and more empowering.

Workshops & Seminars

Knowledge is power, and these sessions are designed to meet the unique needs of seniors. Topics will include estate and financial planning, healthcare resources, Medicare navigation, nutrition and wellness tips, and practical everyday support. Guest speakers and local experts will provide clear, trustworthy information.

We’ll gather weekly for fellowship and fun! Some weeks will feature themed potlucks with games and activities here at WCC, while others will take us on the road—exploring nearby cities, museums, art exhibits, restaurants, and shops. These outings create meaningful opportunities to laugh, share stories, and build friendships.

Day Trips & Potlucks

Community Connections

As Bartlesville’s multicultural hub, WCC is a place where neighbors come together to share food, culture, stories, and meaningful conversations. Our goal is to create opportunities for connection across traditions, generations, and experiences—because when we understand each other, our community grows stronger.

Health & Wellness For All

Our doors are open each week for community fitness.

  • Yoga with Lisa, RYT 200 – Mondays at 5:30 PM

  • Line Dancing with Terri – Mondays at 6:30 PM

  • Sole Sisters Dance Fitness – Tuesdays & Thursdays at 5:30 PM

Taste of Community

Nothing brings people together like food! Taste of Community celebrates the rich diversity of Bartlesville through shared meals, cultural storytelling, and conversation. Each gathering highlights the traditions of our neighbors, creating a table where everyone belongs.

Educational Bus Tours

Our educational bus tours invite participants to explore the history, culture, and legacy that shape Oklahoma.

In November 2025, we’ll travel to the site of the Battle of Honey Springs, the largest Civil War engagement in Indian Territory - where Native, Black, and White soldiers fought side by side. This powerful experience will give participants a deeper understanding of Oklahoma’s complex past and the shared stories that continue to unite us today.

Cultural Events

Cultural history months, potlucks, and language-learning workshops, WCC is a space where every culture is honored. These events are more than celebrations—they’re opportunities to build bridges of understanding and unity.

Together, these programs reflect a new season at Westside Community Center. We are more than an after-school program - we are a multigenerational hub of connection, culture, and opportunity.

Over the past year and a half, our leadership has reimagined youth programming, introduced new adult and senior initiatives, and expanded community offerings that unite people across backgrounds.

WCC is becoming Bartlesville’s Multicultural Hub and Resource Center - a place where learning never stops, relationships grow stronger, and every neighbor belongs.

Community Conversations & Town Halls

Real Talk. Real Solutions. Real Change.

Join the table. At WCC, we believe respectful dialogue is not optional; it’s essential. In a world where people are often afraid to engage across lines of difference, we offer a space where disagreement isn’t a threat, it’s an opportunity.

Why This Matters

Our society doesn’t need more silence. It needs more courage—the kind that listens, challenges, and grows.

“Peace is not absence of conflict, it is the ability to handle conflict by peaceful means.”
Ronald Reagan

“Shallow understanding from people of good will is more frustrating than absolute misunderstanding from people of ill will.”
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Tech Savvy Seniors

Here at WCC, we don’t host shouting matches. But we do create space for passionate, truth-centered conversations where tension is not only allowed, it’s respected.

Executive Director, Shavon Annette, says:
“We won't argue, but we will have passionate discussions. And we make space to hold that tension. It’s not a threat; it’s how growth happens.”

For years, she’s been holding conversations like this in corporate boardrooms, political town halls, cultural spaces, and religious circles—places where disagreement is often met with division. But here at WCC, we’re building something different.

This isn’t about changing minds. It’s about creating room to understand where people are coming from. That’s how we honor one another. That’s how we grow. When truth and grace walk together, order follows, and transformation becomes possible.

This is the beauty of what we’re building here. A place where we can disagree without dishonor, engage without fear, and lead with both courage and compassion. What You’ll Find

  • Civility, not censorship

  • Facilitated conversations, not chaos

  • Lived experiences and expert voices

  • Topics that matter: justice, health, housing, faith, education, and more

A Space for Growth

This isn’t about who’s right, it’s about what’s real. We mirror to our community how to sit with difference, hold space for hard questions, and move forward with dignity.
