What Does "Black-Tie Gala" Mean?

A Black-Tie Gala is a formal event that calls for guests to dress in their most elegant attire, typically reserved for special occasions. Black-tie traditionally means that men should wear a tuxedo, which includes a black jacket with matching trousers, a white dress shirt, a black bow tie, black formal shoes, and often a cummerbund or waistcoat. For women, black-tie attire usually means a long evening gown, though a formal cocktail dress may also be appropriate.

If you do not own a tuxedo or evening gown, don’t worry! While we encourage you to adhere to the dress code if possible, we understand that these items can be costly. In such cases, a dark suit for men and a nice dress or suit for women is perfectly acceptable. The most important thing is that you come ready to enjoy a memorable evening in support of the Westside Community Center. We want everyone to feel welcome, so please join us as you are able!
