Juneteenth Celebration

Join us for a day of celebration and unity as we commemorate Juneteenth and the grand reopening of the Westside Community Center, Bartlesville's multicultural hub and community resource center!

What is Juneteenth?

Juneteenth, celebrated on June 19th, marks the day in 1865 when enslaved African Americans in Texas learned of their emancipation, over two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. This day has since become a symbol of African American freedom and resilience. In Bartlesville, the Westside Community Center (WCC) echoes this spirit of empowerment. Established 80 years ago, WCC originally served as a haven for African American children, providing a safe space for education and community. Over the decades, its mission has expanded, transforming into a vibrant multicultural hub that embraces individuals of all ages, races, and socioeconomic backgrounds. The history of Juneteenth beautifully aligns with the Westside Community Center's legacy, both celebrating the power of community, diversity, and our shared commitment to unity.

WCC's Juneteenth Celebration.

The mission of our Juneteenth celebration is to honor the rich legacy of the Westside Community Center (WCC), a cornerstone of Bartlesville's history for 80 years. Originally established to support African American children, WCC has evolved into a vibrant multicultural hub and resource center. Our celebration not only commemorates the significance of Juneteenth but also underscores our commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive community. We strive to empower individuals of all ages, races, and socioeconomic backgrounds, continuing the legacy of unity and resilience that WCC embodies.

We want to have a Bouncy House for the kids -- and we are asking for your help to make this happen!
